Mealime is discontinued on 21 October 2026. Its notice says your personal data is deleted at shutdown and that its recipes continue in Meals Hub, inside the Albertsons Companies grocery apps (mealime.com/closing).
This page is for people who used Mealime to plan the week and shop for it, and who also save recipes from creators' videos and from recipe websites. Yumzi is an app for iPhone and Android that reads the recipes you save, lets you pick the week's dinners from them and turns them into one shopping list.
From Mealime's own notice:
Source: mealime.com/closing.
Mealime's notice describes no export and no transfer to another app. What you can keep is the recipes themselves, one at a time.
Most people cook the same handful of dinners again and again. Write down the ten or so you actually repeat before you start copying anything.
Mealime recipes have public pages under mealime.com/recipes/. In the Mealime app, open the recipe, tap the more button, then share, and copy the link. If that control has moved, find the recipe by name on mealime.com/recipes and copy the address from your browser.
A recipe page on mealime.com is read like any other recipe website. In Yumzi, open Add and paste one link, or many at once (up to 25 in one paste). Saving from a recipe website uses one of your reads: the first ten are free, then one a week. You get the title, the servings, the ingredients and the steps.
A few limits, so nothing surprises you:
If you edited a recipe in Mealime, take a screenshot of your version with your notes. In Yumzi, choose "Choose a photo or screenshot". Reading a photo uses one of your reads: the first ten are free, then one a week.
Go back to the original site and save that link in Yumzi instead.
Mealime has not said whether its public recipe pages stay online after 21 October, so save the ones you want now.
Yumzi is on the App Store and Google Play.
Maybe. If you liked Mealime's own recipes and you shop at an Albertsons Companies store, Meals Hub is the closest thing to Mealime, and it is free.
Yumzi fits better if the dinners you cook come from creators' videos, recipe websites and cookbooks, or if you are not near an Albertsons Companies store or not in the US.
Save a TikTok, Instagram or YouTube link, a recipe website, a photo or a screenshot. Yumzi reads the recipe into ingredients and steps. With creators' videos, the recipe is often in the video, not the caption.
Choose the week's dinners from the recipes you saved. Change the servings per recipe.
Every dinner you planned goes into one shopping list for the week. The same ingredient from different recipes becomes one line, scaled to the servings you chose.
Mealime's answer was to sign in to the same account on each phone. In Yumzi you send an invite, and the other person joins the same week and the same list. Invite them before they add recipes of their own. More on planning for a household.
