Recipe scaler: make the amount you need

Rose · 28 September 2026

The recipe feeds four. Tonight, there are two of you. Paste the ingredients below and change the servings. The recipe stays yours.

Same recipe, your number of portions

Replace the example with your ingredients, one per line. Put the amount first, without thousands separators. Fractions and ranges work; instructions belong outside this box.

For 2 servings · multiply by 1/2

  • 150 g pasta
  • 3/4 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 garlic cloves
  • Salt, to tasteKept as written. Check this line yourself.

Units and recognized package sizes stay as written. Compound amounts and unclear formats are kept for you to check. Cooking time, pan size and seasoning need your judgement. Your list is calculated in this browser and is not submitted to Yumzi.

How the serving calculation works

New amount = original amount × servings you want ÷ original servings. For example, 300 g for four becomes 150 g for two, or 450 g for six.

Only the first quantity changes. Two 400 g tins become one 400 g tin when you halve the recipe. “Salt, to taste” stays as written. Check every flagged line, and adjust seasoning as you cook. The ≈ symbol marks a rounded result.

Need grams as well?

Scaling keeps the original units. For a cup measurement, use the ingredient-specific cups-to-grams converter. A cup of flour and a cup of sugar need different weights.

FAQ

How do I scale a recipe from four servings to two?

Divide the servings you want by the original servings: 2 ÷ 4 = 0.5. Multiply each ingredient amount by 0.5. This calculator does that for amounts at the start of each line.

Can I use fractions or a range such as 1 to 2?

Yes. Enter fractions such as 1/2, 1 1/2 or ½. Both ends of a range are scaled. Lines without a readable starting amount stay unchanged and are labelled for you to check.

Does doubling the ingredients double the cooking time?

No. This tool changes ingredient amounts only. Follow the recipe and check the food as it cooks. A different pan or batch size can change the time you need.

Does this tool save or upload my recipe?

No. It calculates in your browser. Use Copy result to keep your scaled list in your own notes. There is no account or recipe upload.
