App to Save Recipes From Instagram With the Amounts Intact

An app to save recipes from Instagram has to do more than bookmark the post, because saving the post is what Instagram already does and it is the reason your saved folder is unusable. Yumzi reads the recipe out of the reel, including amounts spoken aloud or flashed on screen, and stores it as text.

Why is Instagram’s own save button not enough?

Because it saves the post, not the recipe.

A saved reel goes into a flat list you can only scroll. You cannot search it by ingredient, and the amounts are wherever the creator happened to put them: the caption, the voiceover, a text overlay held for a second, or a pinned comment. At half past six none of that is reachable.

The folder grows, the Tuesday menu does not change.

Most importers inherit the same gap. Samsung Food’s five documented import paths are four link-or-typing routes plus a camera scan of a written recipe, so sharing a reel into one of them passes along a link to a video player with an empty caption field.

What does Yumzi do with a saved reel?

Reads it. The spoken track is transcribed, the on-screen text is read off the frames, and the two are reconciled into one ingredient list with amounts and steps in order, credited to the creator.

Then it becomes usable: searchable by ingredient, scalable to the number of people eating, plannable into a week, and mergeable with other dinners into a single shopping list where two recipes wanting spring onion produce one bunch.

Does it work when the caption is empty?

That is the case it exists for. A reel with three emoji and a song credit still has a recipe in it if the creator said the amounts or put them on screen, and that is what gets read.

When a post genuinely has nothing readable, a montage set to music with no spoken amounts and no on-screen text, you get told it could not be read. Yumzi never invents a recipe to fill the gap, because a wrong quantity only reveals itself with the pan already hot.

What does it cost?

Yumzi is free while it is in early access. Reading a recipe out of a video is the part that costs money to run, so a paid tier for heavy use is planned. Planning and the shopping list stay free.

What are the limits worth knowing?

Posts that have been deleted or made private since you saved them cannot be read. Compilation reels that show five dinners in thirty seconds give fragments rather than one complete recipe.
