A free recipe organizer app should gather recipes from wherever you saved them into one place you can search, without charging you for the basics. Yumzi reads the recipe out of the cooking videos you save on TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, and from recipe websites too, then organizes it; planning and shopping lists are free to use.

What does a recipe organizer actually have to solve?

Fragmentation. Recipes end up in four places at once: saved posts on Instagram, favourites on TikTok, screenshots in your camera roll, and links in a notes app. None of those four can be searched by ingredient.

The organizing problem is not storage, it is shape. Once a recipe is text with amounts, sorting and searching it is easy. While it is a video or an image, no amount of folder discipline helps.

Free tiers usually meter the wrong half. ReciMe caps its free tier at five recipe imports a week, which is a limit on getting recipes in rather than on keeping them.

How does Yumzi organize them?

By converting first. It reads the spoken track and the on-screen text of a saved video into ingredients with amounts and steps in order, and reads a recipe website directly the same way. Once the recipe is text, it is searchable, editable, plannable and shoppable.

Recipes sit in one household box rather than per-device, so anyone in the house can find what somebody else saved.

What is free?

Organizing, searching, editing, planning a week, and building the shopping list. Yumzi is free while it is in early access; reading a recipe out of a video is the part that costs money to run, so a paid tier for heavy use of that is planned.

What are the honest limits?

Yumzi never invents a recipe. When a clip has no spoken amounts and no on-screen text, it says it could not read one rather than filling in a plausible ingredient list.

It reads what the creator actually said. “A good glug of oil” stays a glug rather than being converted into a precise number that was never stated.

The Albert Heijn hand-off is the Netherlands only. The app itself works in 175 countries, and outside the Netherlands you use the finished list at whatever shop you like.

Who should use something else?

If your recipes are already text on websites, a free clipper-based organizer will do the job just as well. The video-reading step only earns its cost when the recipe was never written down anywhere.
